Audit Base iOS Support
Getting Started
Welcome to Audit Base on iOS - field audit and inspection reporting for contractors, safety inspectors, and property managers. This support guide will help you capture evidence, record issues, and generate professional PDF reports on your iPhone or iPad, even without a connection.
App Permissions
Audit Base may request certain permissions to function as intended. You can manage these under Settings > Audit Base on your device.
- Camera: Used to photograph issues and capture evidence against your audit findings.
- Photo Library: Used to attach existing images to a finding. The app does not browse your photos for any other purpose.
- File Storage: Used to save and export PDF reports, via the iOS share sheet and Files app.
- Notifications: Used only to deliver reminders you configure within the app.
These permissions are optional, though certain features (photo evidence, PDF export) may be limited without them.
Core Features
- Photo Evidence: Capture photos on-site and bind them to specific findings with context and notes.
- Issue Records: Log issues with descriptions, severity, and location against each audit.
- Projects & Sites: Organise audits by project and site for quick access and repeat inspections.
- PDF Reports: Generate polished, branded PDF reports and share them directly via email, messaging apps, or save to Files.
- Offline Audits: Keep working without a connection - your audits are captured on-device and available immediately.
- Cloud Sync (Optional): Create an account to back up and sync your audits across devices.
Accounts and Cloud Sync
Audit Base works without an account, storing your audits locally on your device. If you create an account and enable Cloud Sync, your data is encrypted and backed up so you can access it across devices and restore it by signing in. You can disable Cloud Sync at any time and continue in local-only mode, or request deletion of your account and cloud-stored data by contacting us.
Saving and Backing Up Your Data
To protect your audits and reports:
- In local-only mode, your data is included in iCloud backups if iCloud Backup is enabled on your device (Settings > [Your Name] > iCloud > iCloud Backup).
- Enable Cloud Sync to back up your audits to our encrypted servers and restore them on a new device.
- Use the PDF export feature regularly to keep shareable copies of your completed reports.
Important: In local-only mode, uninstalling the app will permanently delete all locally stored data. Studio Phoenix cannot recover data that was never synced.
Troubleshooting
- Camera or photo library not working: Ensure you have granted the relevant permissions to Audit Base in Settings > Audit Base. If a permission was previously denied, you may need to enable it manually.
- PDF not saving or sharing: Check that the Files app or your chosen sharing method is working and that your device has available storage space.
- Audits not syncing: Ensure you are signed in and connected to the internet. Sync resumes automatically once a connection is restored.
- Data not saving: Make sure your device has available storage space. If the issue persists, restart the app and try again.
- App crashes: Ensure your iOS is up to date and restart your device. If the problem continues, contact us before uninstalling (uninstalling deletes any un-synced local data).
