Beep has built a large following through organic downloads alone, with coaches and athletes running it from Belgium to Germany and well beyond.
The problem
The 20m beep test has been the standard multi-stage fitness test for decades. The protocol hasn't changed. The way people run it mostly hasn't either.
A coach stands at one end with a clipboard and a downloaded audio track that may or may not match the official timing. Participants run. The coach writes down when each person drops out, then does the VO2 max calculations by hand afterwards, or doesn't bother.
It works, but it's held together with workarounds.
What we built
Beep runs the full multi-stage fitness test from one phone. It tracks every participant, works out results in real time and exports the lot when the session ends.
It had to be hands-free during the test. A coach running a beep test for a squad of 25 can't be tapping a screen between shuttles. Spoken announcements guide every level change, so the phone sits on the bench and does its job without being touched.
And results had to be immediate. VO2 max estimates and age-adjusted fitness ratings appear as participants finish, not after an evening with a formula table.

- All 21 levels, with spoken calls at every level change
- VO2 max from the Léger formula, adjusted for age
- Fitness ratings against age and gender norms
- Personal bests and 30-day trends, so you can see whether training is working
- CSV export, ready for a spreadsheet or a report
Testing a team
Solo testing is straightforward, and most beep test apps handle it.
The harder problem is groups. Think of a PE teacher testing a class of 30, or a coach assessing a squad before selection. That's where the clipboard falls apart.
Beep Pro handles group sessions natively. You add the names, start the test, and tap a name when that person finishes. The app logs their final level and result. At the end of the session, one export gives you every participant's data in a single file.
Names carry across sessions, so testing again at the start of next term doesn't mean re-entering the roster.
The coach watches the runners. The phone handles the rest.
Proof you can share
A beep test result is something people want to show off, or at least track. Beep turns your peak level and VO2 max into a stats card you can post straight from the app.

Who it's for
Coaches and PE teachers running tests for a group, and anyone who wants to know their VO2 max without booking into a lab.
If you've run a beep test off a YouTube video and a notepad, Beep replaces both.
